Three years after my successful hemicolectomy, I started to notice an intermittent pain in the middle of my belly…
At first, I thought it nothing more than a strained abdominal muscle, but the pain kept getting sharper and sharper and more persistent. And so, my suspicion of a pulled muscle turned into worries that my cancer had returned.
Anyway, to make another long, painful story short, it turned out that I had an umbilical hernia. In other words, my intestines were trying to come out through my belly button. Ouch.
More surgery. More pain. More worry. More money. More precious time and energy lost forever.
But at least my cancer hadn’t returned.
